Elvis Stories

With the opening of Zoolander 2 today, I thought I would take a look back at a hilarious short film, written, directed, and starring Ben Stiller, 1989's Elvis Stories.

Elvis Stories is a bunch of short tales that involve the King Of Rock N Roll that seemed to be ripped from the tabloids. There's a slow witted chef named Corky, John Cusack, who makes Elvis Patties. A conspiracy theorist, Paul Greco, who believes that Elvis and John Lennon are the same person. A grocery store checkout girl, Amy Stiller, that thinks she has spotted Elvis shopping in her store. A hairdresser, Stiller, possessed by the King. And a golfer, Joel Murray, who thinks he has played a round with Elvis.

This is a very funny short, with Stiller's hairdresser story and Corky's Elvis Patties being the funniest of the lot. Stiller has assembled some great players for this too. Jeremy Piven, Mike Myers, Andy Dick, and Mojo Nixon round out the cast.

I was lucky enough to stumble across this on video back in the day. It's a hard one to find now. It's not available on dvd or blu ray. If you are a fan of The Ben Stiller Show, you should try to track it down. It has a lot of the same style of humor.
