After decades of doing stand up and a scene stealing role in Caddyshack, Hollywood felt it was time to give Rodney Dangerfield some respect and have him headline his own vehicle. The film was 1983's Easy Money.

Child photographer and family man Monty Capuletti, Dangerfield, has a hard living lifestyle of boozing, pot smoking, gambling, and hanging out with his buddies at the bars and strip clubs. His wealthy mother in law, Geraldine Fitzgerald, hates the way he lives and the two are constantly butting heads.

She dies and leaves Monty and his family ten million dollars if Monty can give up his vices for one year. If he can't, they get nothing. At first Monty is up for the challenge. But as the year goes on, it gets tougher and tougher for him to live the clean life.

This is Dangerfield being Dangerfield, and it's hysterical. The role was a custom fit for him, which makes sense since he cowrote the screenplay. He is aided by a great supporting cast that includes Joe Pesci, Candy Azzara, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jeffrey Jones, Taylor Negron, and Tom Noonan. Oddly enough, Dangerfield's Caddyshack costar Bill Murray was originally signed on to play the Noonan role, but had to drop out.

This is a must for Dangerfield fans. Nobody does the slobs vs. the snobs better than Rodney.

It's available on dvd and on blu ray. The blu ray is a double feature with Men At Work.
