I love a good vampire movie, and 1986's Vamp definately falls into that category.

When Keith and A.J., Chris Makepeace and Robert Rusler, two college freshman pledging an fraternity promise their frat brothers to be that they could get a stripper for a party, they get more than they bargained for. The two travel into the city with Duncan, Gedde Watanabe, a nerd who has loaned them his car in hopes of winning their friendship. They decide to check out a gentlemen's venue called the After Dark Club. The guys pick the exotic Katrina, Grace Jones, to be their entertainment. The only problem is that she is a vampire and wants them for her next meal.

This is a very funny vampire flick. Jones is perfectly cast as Katrina. She is someone who can sexy and scary at the same time. And her striptease seems like something out of one her concerts. Makepeace and Rusler are both really good in this and play well off of one another. Watanabe is really funny as Duncan. Also B movie bad guy Billy Drago pops up as an evil albino who the guys have a run in with as well. Dedee Pfeiffer rounds out the cast as the cute and sweet love interest.

Both Tales From The Crypt:Bordello Of Blood and From Dusk Till Dawn seemed to have borrowed heavily from this film. At the time of it's release, Vamp was a fresh take on the vampire genre. A very visual and humorous flick. And it came out a year before a funny, stylish, and more successful vampire film, The Lost Boys.

This is one of my favorite vampire movies. A very funny and hip take on the vampire genre.

It's available on dvd and blu ray.
