Fatal Attraction was a sexy potboiler and a huge hit in 1987. One film that covered similar ground, but wasn't quite as big was 1984's Thief Of Hearts.
Scarface's Steven Bauer stars as Scott, a thief who gets an eyeful into the secret desires of a bored wife named Mickey, Barbara Williams, when he steals her diary during a break in. Her secret fantasies creates a sexual desire for him and he uses the diary to start an affair with her. Unknowing that he is the thief that stole her diary and belongings, she gives into temptation. When her neglectful spouse Ray, John Getz, catches on, he decides to put an end to the affair by any means necessary.

This is a slick looking film, but it also a bit on the trashy side. The two stars are attractive enough, but it's also sizzle without depth. The supporting cast, which includes George Wendt and David Caruso, is pretty good.

Overall, not a bad time killer, but that's about it. More of a style over substance picture.
It's available on dvd through Warner Archive.
