Since I've been on a horror anthology kick, I caught up with one that I've somehow missed over the years, 1972's Asylum.

Interviewing for a job at an insane asylum for the incurable, Dr. Martin, Robert Powell, has to undergo an odd interview process. He has to go room to room of the patients and try to figure out which one is a former doctor that has lost his mind. As he visits the patients, he hears the stories that lead them to their insanity, each story crazier than the next. All the while trying to keep his wits about himself.

This is a fun, and clever anthology. It reminded a lot of the Hammer films of the 60's. maybe because it was a British production. Director Roy Ward Baker has assembled a game cast that includes Peter Cushing, Charlotte Rampling, Britt Ekland, and Herbert Lom. The film was written by Robert Bloch, who's no stranger to horror and suspense. He also wrote Psycho.

This was a huge hit overseas, but not here in America. If you are a fan of horror films, especially British ones from the 60's and 70's, you should check it out. It's a lot of fun.

It's available on dvd and streaming on Amazon Prime.
