Second Sight

In my last post, I wrote about the teaming of John Larroquette and Kirstie Alley, two of the big names from NBC's Must See TV lineup, in Madhouse. The year before, Larroquette teamed up with another sitcom star, Perfect Strangers' Bronson Pinchott, for 1989's Second Sight. Here's my thoughts.
A paranormal detective named Willis, Larroquette, and a psychic named Bobby, Pinchott, are partners at the Second Sight Detective Agency. A nun named Sister Elizabeth, Bess Armstrong, hires the two to find a missing girl, which in turn becomes the biggest case of their career.

Probably on paper, this seemed like it had the potential to be a big summer blockbuster, but the end result is pretty dull. Larroquette seems kind of bored throughout the movie, which makes sense since Pinchott has the flashier role. Pinchott just comes off as typecast, playing the same lovable oddball that he played in Beverly Hills Cop and Perfect Strangers.

All and all, Second Sight is pretty lifeless.
It's availbale on dvd thru Warner Archive.
