In the late 70's and early 80's, director Greydon Clark was kind of a go to guy for silly, b drive in flicks. In 1983, Clark tried to cash in on the arcade craze with the film Joysticks. I recently revisited this flick and here's my thoughts.

Upset that his daughter, Corinne Bohrer, is spending too much time at the arcade, a local businessman, Joe Don Baker, attempts to shut down the establishment. Of course, the arcade owner, Scott McGinnes, and his ragtag group of employee's and patrons have some tricks up their sleeves.

Joysticks is pretty much a paint by the numbers, 80's teen sex comedy. You have the slick hero, the nerdy virgin, the fat slob, the punk, and the valley girl. But the thing about Clark was he was able to work quick and cheap and still come out with a watchable movie. And he usually was able to assemble a pretty good cast. Baker at this time was Clark's go to guy, and Clark surrounds him with a ton of recognizable faces from the era, including Making The Grade's McGinnis, Surf II's Bohrer, Grease 2's Leif Geen, and Real Genius' Jon Gries. All of whom do their best with the silly material.

Joysticks isn't even close to the top of the t&a comedies of the 80's, but it does have it's moments.

It's available on dvd and blu ray.
