In yesterday's post, I talked about screenwriter Daniel Waters' directorial debut Happy Campers. Today, I thought I would write about his sophomore effort in the director's chair, 2007's Sex And Death 101.
On the day of his bachelor party, Roderick Blank, Simon Baker, is sent a mysterious email that is a list of all the women he has ever slept with. The really strange thing about this list is that it doesn't stop at his bride to be, Julie Bowen. At first, he thinks it's a prank that his buddies, Neil Flynn and Dash Mihok, might be playing on him. But after a tryst with the stripper who is performing at his party, he knows that the list is real. Roderick decides to call off his wedding, thinking that his true Mrs. Right might be on there. Unfortunately for him, one of those names might belong to a sexy killer, Winona Ryder, who targets promiscuous men.

I think Waters second outing is a lot more fun and has a screwball, albeit dark, sense of humor to it. Plus it's nice to ee him reteam with his Heathers' star Ryder, who is terrific as always. Baker is also a good leading man. Mindy Cohn, Natalie from The Facts Of Life, also gets in a lot of laughs as Baker's assistant.

Unfortunately, Waters hasn't returned to the director's chair since this film, which is a shame. This flick is a nice showcase for his talents as a director.
It's available on dvd and blu ray.
