I love catching up on older titles that for one reason or another I seemed to have missed. A couple of nights ago I was able to do this with 1989's I, Madman.

Virginia, Jenny Wright, is a struggling actress who works at a used bookstore. One evening, she gets sucked into a horror novel she found at the shop. After she finishes reading it, she can't wait to read the follow up, entitled I, Madman. Once she delves into it, murders start happening that resemble the ones on the page and Virginia believes that the killer from the book could be real. Everyone around her, including her supportive cop boyfriend, Clayton Rohner, thinks she might be losing her mind.

This is a fun horror flick. It kind of reminded me of a Tales From The Crypt episode. I'm not sure how I missed this one for so many years. I remember when it came out on vhs I wanted to see it. I thought it looked good and I really enjoy both of the stars of it. Speaking of the stars, both Wright and Rohner are great in this and make a believable couple. Director Tibor Takacs has a really great eye for color and set design and knows how to balance the mood between creepy and fun.

I'm glad that I finally caught up with this great little horror flick.

It's available on dvd and blu ray.
