A couple of weeks ago, we lost the terrific character actor Miguel Ferrer. So today I thought I'd take a look back at a rare starring turn for Ferrer in the 1997 adaptation of Stephen King's short story The Night Flier.

Ferrer plays a reporter who's tracking down a murderer who's killing his victims in a vampire like style aboard a small airplane. The closer the reporter gets to finding out who the killer is, the more he loses his grip on reality.

This is a fun horror film. It feels a lot like an old episode of The Night Stalker. Ferrer is at his surly best. This is the kind of role that he can play in his sleep. It's very similar to his part on Twin Peaks and it's always a blast seeing him take on these kind of roles. This is pretty much a one man show for Ferrer. He is front and center throughout. Dan "Pee Wee from Porky's" Monahan costars as Ferrer's boss, so that's kind of fun to see him again.

Sadly, this one is out of print on dvd.
