A couple of weeks back, I rewatched the great, made for Showtime movie Rated X starring Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen. So today I thought I would take a look back at the first film that the brothers co starred in, 1990's Men At Work.

Now I know that they were both in Young Guns and Wisdom together before this. But this was the first time that Estevez and Sheen both headlined. The two brothers play wisecracking garbagemen. Their boss, Estevez's Repo Man costar Sy Richardson, assigns them to a crazed Vietnam vet, Sheen's Platoon costar Keith David, to supervise the two. When the three find a corpse in the trash, they decide to stash it and find the killer.

This has the feel of the snobs vs. slobs comedies of the 70's and 80's. It also owes a lot to Weekend At Bernie's. The brothers seem to be having a blast and they are fun to watch. Estevez also wrote and directed and does a great job, especially considering that most of his films as a director have been heavy dramas. And I think this is his best. David is the real scene stealer as the loose cannon with a short fuse. My only complaint is that John Getz, as the heavy, really overacts and chews the scenery.

Overall, Men At Work is a fun flick.

It's available on dvd and on a blu ray 2 pack with Easy Money.
