My Blu Ray Pick for 9-12 Hot Rod

This week, 2007's Hot Rod makes it blu ray debut.

Andy Samberg star's in this silly comedy as Rod, a wannabee daredevil who dreams of being the next Evil Knievel. With the help of his loyal crew, Bill Hader, Jorma Taccone, and Danny McBride, and his next door neighbor that he pines for, Isla Fisher, Rod is going to attempt his biggest stunt yet, jumping his bike over fifteen school buses. His goal is to raise enough money to pay for an operation, and earn the respect of, his ailing stepfather, Ian McShane,

When I first saw this, I really expected not to enjoy it as much as I did. But this is a really fun and ridiculous movie. Written by South Park scribe Pam Brady originally as a vehicle for Will Ferrell, who is one of the producers. When he passed, Lorne Michaels, who also produced, gave Samberg, and his Lonely island cohorts Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, who also directed, free reign to make the project in their own voice.

I laughed throughout this movie. If you enjoy mindless fun, it might just be up your alley.
