There's no denying that the 80's were the greatest decade for teen films. And since a lot of the writers and directors of these movies were teens in the 50's, it makes sense that some of these coming of age films were set in that time period. This didn't really distract it's core audience, and films like Porky's and Stand By Me became big hits. Some however, seemed to struggle to find box office success. 1985's Mischief was one of those.

Set in 1956, Mischief stars On Golden Pond's Doug McKeon as Jonathan, an awkward teen who pines away for the popular Marilyn, Kelly Preston. He enlists the help of Gene, Chris Nash, a tough biker who's new to the school. Gene gives Jonathan advice on how to win Marilyn's attention. Gene has his eyes set on someone out of his league as well, the smart, good girl Bunny, Catherine Mary Stewart.

Even though this is a teen sex comedy, there's a real sweetness to it that makes it work. All four of the leads do a great job. Especially Nash, who surprisingly didn't have much of a career after this, other than bit roles in Modern Girls and Satisfaction.

Mischief is a fun and nostalgic flick.

It's available on dvd.
