After co directing the cult classic Performance with Nicolas Roeg, director Donald Cammell seemed to be on his way to becoming one of the next visionaries in film. Sadly, however, most producers didn't understand his vision. This is why if you look up his work, there's only a handful of films. One of those is 1987's White Of The Eye.

There's a killer who targets women on the loose in a small Arizona town. The prime suspect is a good natured, stereo repairman, David Keith. His wife, Cathy Moriarty, doesn't believe it. But when she starts to suspect him of cheating she begins to see him in a different light.

This is an odd, but terrific little thriller. The always reliable Moriarty and Keith turn in great performances. Cammel's use of editing, non linear storytelling, and the way the film was shot add to the tension.

White Of The Eye is a terrific example of what a talent Cammel was and that he was robbed of what could have been an amazing career.
It's available on dvd and blu ray.
